England’s World Cup: 52 years of hurt never stopped us streaming

Video referees have got a lot of press over the last couple of weeks of World Cup action, but we’re more interested in VoD than VAR.

 

Indeed, after England kicked off their World Cup campaign against Tunisia, the BBC released some eye-opening stats on VoD (Video on Demand) live streaming of the game. A record 3m tuned into the game over the internet (as opposed to watching on linear TV).

So, as England warm up for their massive last-16 clash against Columbia, we took a look at some of the latest data on our streaming behaviour.

It’s fair to say that video on demand and streaming services have transformed the way we consume media. The pace of change has been dramatic and it shows no signs of slowing.
