Delivering exceptional results, our POS unit increased sales across Nestlé Allen’s core range by 40% over two months with impressive uplifts on hero SKUs.

Shoppers are increasingly using independent stores for ‘top-up shops’ rather than their main food shop. This has resulted in them buying less and exclusively using express and self-checkouts.

The Challenge

Our challenge was to design a fun and creative POS unit for Nestlé Allen’s Medium Lolly Bag range, to be placed at express checkouts for maximum conversion. As well as seamlessly integrating into the overcrowded express checkout area, the POS needed to be easy to assemble, expand without the use of tools, and secured to store hardware.

Our Approach

When completing a FOS scope of independent stores, we noticed that most stores had a divider pole at their express checkout lane to separate them from the rest of the checkouts. Turning this airspace into selling space, we created a premium yet fun and engaging, modular POS solution utilizing Nestlé Allen’s brand mascot – the Allen’s Snake.

Made from 100% recyclable materials, the modular Allen’s Snake unit included an extension kit, which allowed field teams to extend the length of the snake to suit individual in-store divider poles, no matter the size.

Results

The Allen’s Snake unit delivered exceptional results for Nestlé Allen's, “Winning at Front of Store” with 200 units being placed at express checkouts in 60 stores across Australia.

Successfully executing the plan, above and beyond KPI’s in only 12 weeks, our innovative POS increased sales across Nestlé Allen’s core range by 40%. There were impressive uplifts on hero SKU’s too (SNAKES ALIVE 200g: +65% and PARTY MIX 190g: +58%) over two months.
